Chihasegawa Onsen

Chihasegawa Onsen Drone

Chihasegawa Onsen is located right by our cat staging area, meaning the cats are ready to go right outside of your door! The hot spring was founded in 1871 and has been run by the same family until now.

Males and females have separate hot springs (no outside hot springs though) with showers as well.

The lodge has a total of 8 rooms in total which 6 are Japanese twin rooms and 2 are Japanese single rooms. All rooms are Japanese style rooms where you will be sleeping on futons in a tatami room. Toilets are shared amongst other guests but men and women toilets are separated.

Guests staying at the Chihasegawa Onsen will eat breakfast every morning at the lodge. For dinner, the first night (and 3rd night for 4-day trip guests) will be at a local restaurant called  “Ten” in town which is about a 10min drive (guides will drive all guests to the restaurant). This restaurant is an “izakaya”, which is  a place where people not only eat but also drink. Dinner at this izakaya will be grilled meat and vegetables. If you want a bit more entertainment for the night, there is a karaoke system in the restaurant. This is a great place to meet Shimamaki local’s as well! Dinner for the 2nd night (and 4th night for 4-day trip guests) will be local seafood meals at the Chihasegawa Onsen.
